Philippines Needs New Law For PH-CH Joint Gas and Oil Explorations In a recently held online forum dubbed “Tapatan sa Aristocrat”, UP College of Law Associate Dean Jay Batongbacal discussed the issues that may arise from the PH-CH joint gas and oil explorations in the West Philippine Sea, citing that the current policy under the Offshore Oil Exploration Development Act of 1972 is based on the assumption that the partners for oil explorations are corporations that “will always be subjected to Philippine laws, rules, and regulations”.
