The Post-Pandemic State of Women’s Rights in the Philippines

In celebration of International Women’s Month, the UP Institute of Human Rights (UP IHR) will be hosting an in-person forum entitled “The Post-Pandemic State of Women’s Rights in the Philippines” to be held on 06 March 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon, at the 1st Floor Lecture Hall, UP Law Center, UP Diliman, Quezon City.

Join us in bringing attention to the challenges that women faced during the COVID-19 pandemic and the existing legal tools to combat them. The UP IHR sees the approval of House Bill No. 8655 in the House of Representatives, which sought to expand and amend Republic Act No. 9262, or the “Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004,” as a potent means of empowering women to prevent the perpetration of gender-based cybercrimes and discrimination. This event will feature several experts who will share their knowledge and insights on the implications of these laws and recent jurisprudence.
