UP Law Moot Team bags 2019 Price Media Law championship

The delegation from the University of the Philippines College of Law took home the crown during 2019 International Rounds of the 12th  annual Price Media Law Moot Court Competition held in Oxford, England last April 8-12, 2019.

The team composed of Mark Xavier Libardo, Julienne Del Rosario, Julia Alexandra Chu, Angela Conejero, and Raymond Joseph Garcia bested 35 other teams representing a diverse range of countries. They argued before a renowned bench of lawyers, academics and practitioners from the media industry on free speech, privacy and the regulation of social media. The five-man team secured the title after defeating Ukraine’s National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy during the final round.

For individual awards, Mark Xavier Libardo was named Best Oralist during the preliminary rounds; while Julienne Del Rosario was hailed Best Oralist of the final round and 3rd Best Oralist during the preliminary rounds.

Prof. Nicholas Felix Ty served as the faculty adviser, while Atty. Rachel Miranda and Atty. Pip Chungalao as assistant coaches.

The Price Media Law Moot Court Programme – established in 2008 – aims to nurture interest in issues on freedom of expression and the role of media and information technologies in societies, and to engage students in comparative research of legal standards at national, regional and international levels.
