UP LAW Bags Championship at 2024 Stetson Annual International Environmental Moot Court Competition
The University of the Philippines College of Law has secured another victory after winning the championship title at the 28th Stetson Annual International Environmental Moot Court Competition held in Gulfport, Florida, USA from April 10-13, 2024. The Stetson win marks the second time this year that UP LAW clinched the world championship at a renowned international moot court competition, a remarkable feat that shines the spotlight on UP LAW as the leading institution in moot court competitions worldwide.
UP Law’s Stetson win is also significant as this is the second time that it has bagged the championship in the same competition, the first time being in 2018.
This year’s competition saw the UP Law Stetson Team besting 19 other law schools from different regions, culminating in a face-off with Singapore Management University on the issue of protection of a critically endangered Mountain Gorilla species threatened by oil extraction activities.
The winning UP Law Stetson Team is composed of Noel Francis Galinato, Miriam Celine Miciano, and Alia Dominique Yao, with Prof. Marianne Vitug as coach and Prof. Rommel Casis as faculty advisor.
Miriam Celine Miciano also clinched the Overall Best Oralist award for the preliminary rounds of the competition while Alia Dominque Yao was awarded 3rd Best Oralist for the preliminary rounds and Best Oralist for the championship round.
