PNP renews a Memorandum of Agreement with UP College of Law on legal education and training for police.

The Philippine National Police, under Police Director General Ronald M. Dela Rosa, signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the UP College of Law for the legal education and training of the current police force, pursuant to the PNP Reform Act of 1998.

Present for the MOA signing were Police Director Dela Rosa, UP President-elect Dean Danilo L. Concepcion, and UP College of Law Secretary Prof. Ma. Gisella Dizon-Reyes. The event was held on January 30, 2017, at the PNP Headquarters at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

The MOA covers the continuation of the training of the PNP personnel through a series of seminar-workshops for various subjects such as Criminal Law, Constitution including Human Rights, Evidence, Environmental Law, Cr iminal Procedure, Law of Public Officers, other special laws like the Anti-Child Abuse Law, Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and other laws which may be necessary in the performance of the functions of the police force.

Conversely, the PNP has agreed to support the education of UP College of Law students in the form of the Field Training Program (FTP) wherein law students will join police trainees in precincts as part of their exposure to criminal procedures.
