UP GLPP holds Gender Sensitivity Training for Manila Water Employees

The Gender Law and Policy Program (GLPP) of the University of the Philippines College of Law, in partnership with the Manila Water Corporation Human Resources Group, held a Gender Sensitivity Training titled, “Gender and Development 101: A Webinar on Gender Sensitivity for Manila Water Employees” on 25 July 2022 through Zoom and Microsoft (MS) Teams. The gender sensitivity training aimed to promote a gender-aware, gender-sensitive, and gender-responsive workplace environment, and to empower Manila Water employees to become more gender-sensitive individuals.

A total of 1,488 Manila Water employees attended the training via MS Teams, which is more than 50% of the initial 757 registrants for the event. Manila Water Learning & Development Capability Manager Ms. Ihmelda Bautista stated that non-email Manila Water employees also watched the event.

The speakers, Prof. Nathalie Africa-Verceles, DSD, Dr. Excelsa C. Tongson, and Prof. E. (Leo) D. Battad explained three core topics: (1) Understanding Gender, (2) The Use of Gender-Fair Language, and (3) Anti-Sexual Harassment in the Workplace.
