The UP Law IHL Team took home the championship at the 2019 Red Cross National Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law. The contingent bested students from the University of Batangas College of Law in the final round which was held at the Supreme Court of the Philippines. The team will represent the country in the International Rounds in Hong Kong.
Vanayan Odsey was awarded Best Mooter of the Finals and 2nd Best Overall Mooter, while Barzillai Josh Banogon was recognized as the 3rd Best Overall Mooter. They were likewise awarded 2nd Best Prosecution Memorial and 2nd Runner-Up in the Role Play Challenge.
The Manila Adventist College hosted the IHL Nationals this year which was held from September 23-27, 2019. The competition was participated in by 16 teams from different law schools all over the Philippines.
Prof. Rommel Casis and Atty. Modesta Apesa Chungalao mentored the team as faculty adviser and coach, respectively. The contingent was composed of Team Captain Barzillai Josh Banogon (III-B), Chinette Montenegro (III-BGC Day), and Vanayan Odsey (IV-E).
