Glenda T. LITONG

PROFILE

Glenda T. Litong has devoted her law practice to advocating human rights and promoting gender equality in the field of law. She is a Senior Lecturer in the College of Law, a Law Reform Specialist V with the Institute of Human Rights and currently, Head of the Training and Convention Division of the UP Law Center. Through her work in the UP Law Complex and extension services, she manifests her unwavering commitment to justice and belief in community empowerment. She also engages in ASEAN regional advocacy and research to promote the rights of the marginalized sectors. She has engaged in equality legal research for persons with disability, persons living with HIV, and LGBTQ+, and designed legal education and training programs.

She finished her Bachelor of Economics and Juris Doctor from the University of the Philippines. She completed her Masters of Law at the George Washington University School of Law, where she was a Thomas Buergenthal scholar. She is Chairperson of the Women’s Legal and Human Rights Bureau, Inc. and a member of the Free Legal Assistance Group. She served on the Human Rights Victims Claims Board from 2014 to 2018, the reparations body that adjudicated the claims of victims of human rights violations during the Martial Law regime.
