SEARR
SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGIONAL ROUNDS
The University of the Philippines Law Center, through its Institute for International Legal Studies (UP-IILS), invites law schools from all over Southeast Asia to participate in the Southeast Asian Regional Rounds (“SEARR”) of the 31st Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (“Stetson”). The SEARR will be held on January 07-09, 2026 at the University of the Philippines, College of Law, Diliman, Quezon City Philippines.
The Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition, which focuses on important global environmental challenges, is the most prestigious international environmental law moot court competition in the world. Since 1996, law students from universities all over the globe have participated in the Stetson Moot Court Competition, considering it an invaluable opportunity to meet and compete with representatives from universities around the world.

Interested teams may fill up the form until November 02, 2026 (5:00 PM, PST). The deadline for submission of memorials is on November 16, 2026 (5:00 PM, EST).

Qualification to the SEARR Oral Rounds
- There will be a Memorial Round to qualify teams for the SEARR Oral Rounds in January 2027.
- Only the top 26 memorials from the Memorial Round will qualify for the SEARR Oral Rounds.
- To determine the top 26 memorials, the teams with the three highest memorial scores from each Southeast Asian country shall be included. For example, if there four teams from Country X, the three memorials with the highest average score will qualify for the Oral Rounds.
- If the total number of top memorials from each country is less than 26, the remaining slot(s) will be filled by the teams with the next-highest-scoring memorials, regardless of country. For example, if the top three teams from each country participating total only twelve teams, the remaining fourteen slots will be filled by the next-highest-ranking teams, regardless of country.
- The top 26 teams that qualify for the Oral Rounds will be informed via email on December 2026 or earlier.
QUALIFICATIONS
In order to qualify for the Stetson International Finals, participants must compete in their respective regional competitions. Southeast Asian countries, in particular, are required to participate in the Southeast Asian Regional Round (SEARR) of the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition before advancing to the International Finals.
INFORMATION
Participants flying in Diliman Quezon City may refer to the suggested hotel list for possible accommodations during the competition. Participants shall be responsible for booking their own accommodations and transportation during the entire duration of the competition
Note: Budget accommodations listed may offer limited, essential amenities Participants are advised to verify with the hotel/property should they require any additional services or amenities for their stay.
Interested teams may fill up the form until November 02, 2026 (5:00 PM, PST). Please note that only team who are registered can submit their memorials to the Stetson and SEARR Committee in their respective forms.
Participants must submit the required information and documents in the form including:
- School information
- Coach’s full name and email address
- Personal details of each team member including full name, phonetic pronounciation of name, nickname, ID picture, proof of enrollment, and dietary restrictions
- Team’s contact person including their full name, mobile number, landline/telephone number, email address, and social messaging handles (Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, etc.)

THE INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL LEGAL STUDIES HOSTS THE 2025 SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGIONAL ROUNDS OF THE STETSON INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION
The Institute of International Legal Studies of the University of the Philippines Law Center hosted the Southeast Asian Regional Rounds (SEARR) of the 29th Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (Stetson) from January 16-18, 2025 at the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.
After months of preparation, the UP Institute of International Legal Studies successfully held the largest SEARR in history, with a record-breaking number of 30 registered teams vying for the championship. The teams hailed from various countries across Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines. To accommodate the high number of matches, over 79 judges were selected composed of legal experts, educators, and veteran moot court competitors.
