SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

A. GENERAL GUIDELINES

  1. The list of themes to be published every month will be posted by the Para Doxa Editorial Team on the UP-IILS Facebook page, which will serve as the primary topic of the blog articles to be published for a particular month.
  2. Individuals interested in submitting a contribution may submit either a Blog Article or a Discussion Paper. Submissions should engage with current issues, developments, or debates in international law and related fields. This is open to any topic and does not need to be under the monthly theme. a. If an individual submits an article or paper under a certain theme, the month that the theme is assigned to is also the time period in which the article will be published, should it be approved.
  3. The submission must include the following:
    1. Blog article or discussion paper draft in docx format i. Sources must be cited via hyperlink attached to the statement/word that it is associated with
    2. 3 sentence introduction and description of the writer
  4. All submissions will undergo editorial review by the Para Doxa Editorial Team prior to publication. The editorial team reserves the right to suggest revisions for clarity, structure, or style.
  5. The submissions must be the author’s original work and should not be simultaneously submitted to other publications and platforms without prior disclosure and approval from the Para Doxa Team.
  6. For any use of AI in the creation, copywriting, editing, sourcing, and other actions necessary in the writing of the article or paper, such use must be explicitly disclosed to the Para Doxa Team.

B. BLOG ARTICLES

  • The word count for such articles will have a word limit of 750-1500 words.

C. DISCUSSION PAPERS

  • The word count for discussion papers will have a word limit of 1500 – 3000 words.

D. DEADLINES

  1. Submissions can be sent to paradoxa_law.upd@up.edu.ph with the title “[Last name of Author], [Blog/Discussion Paper Title], [Month/Theme].”
  2. Except for the theme for June 2026, the deadline for all articles and papers that aim to be published on a specific theme is on the 15th day of the month immediately preceding the publication month for said theme. (Ex. for articles based on July’s theme, the deadline will be on June 15.)

E. PUBLICATION

  • Blog articles and discussion papers will be published on the 29th of every month.

AI DISCLOSURE CHECK

The use of AI, Generative AI, and other similar technologies and tools in the creation, writing, editing, and sourcing must be disclosed. The AI disclosure must follow the template below and sent to the Para Doxa team:

             ● Purpose of use (e.g. research, writing, revision, others):

The use of AI tools for grammar, spelling, and punctuation checks is not covered by this rule and therefore does not require disclosure.

However, authors must exercise necessary oversight over any Generative AI tool(s) used, and will be held primarily responsible for the factual accuracy of the generated text, proper citation and attribution of the generated information, and that no plagiarism or any form of copyright infringement is committed while using the AI tool.

Authors are accountable for adhering to Para Doxa’s guidelines and ethics. Any breach of these standards and ethics will result in an immediate rejection of their article, irrespective of its stage in the review process. If such a breach is discovered after publication of the article, the Para Doxa Editorial Team will promptly investigate and take appropriate measures. Such measures may involve removing the published article, issuing an erratum, and forwarding notifications about the breach to relevant academic or legal bodies as the situation may require.
