UP wins 1st Pan-Asia International Human Rights Moot

UP Law took the championship of the first Pan-Asia International Human Rights Moot Court Competition held at the University of Hong Kong last June 30.

The team, composed of Peterson Poon, Leeanne Gali, Carlo Borromeo, and Maria Veronica Manalo, beat the National University of Singapore to claim the top prize of the inaugural moot. The team also won the award for Best Memorial for the Applicant.

They were coached by Prof. Rommel Casis, with Lee Edson Yarcia as assistant coach. They also received support from the Philippine Airlines.

The competition is organized by the University of Hong Kong’s Center for Comparative and Public Law, in partnership with Hong Kong Unison, an NGO advocating for ethnic minority rights. It aims to highlight emerging human rights norms and jurisprudence in the Asia-Pacific region.
