UP Law students join mobilization after CJ Sereno ouster

The studentry of the UP College of Law, supported by the UP Law Student Government (UP LSG), marched in protest following the decision of the Supreme Court of the Philippines to grant the quo warranto petition ousting the former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on May 11, 2018.

With calls to uphold the rule of law and defend democracy, the gathering commenced in front of Malcolm Hall for a short program before convening with students from other UP colleges, Ateneo de Manila University, and Miriam College at Katipunan Avenue for the protest proper and noise barrage.

Along this sentiment, the UP LSG released an official statement on the quo warranto proceeding in the hours after the SC decision was filed. In it, the student government called the decision “patently unconstitutional,” and asked the highest court to “remain steadfast in its duty to independence and impartiality(.)” The full statement may be accessed here: https://www.facebook.com/UPLSG/photos/a.652155251489045.1073741827.652140511490519/1659615724076321/?type=3&theater
