UP Law emerged as National Champions in Philippine Qualifying Rounds of the 2020 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition
For the third straight year, UP Law emerged as National Champions in the recently concluded Philippine Qualifying Rounds of the 2020 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. As the Philippine Team, UP Law will represent the country in Washington, D.C. on April 12-18, 2020 in the International Rounds of the biggest and most prestigious moot court competition in the world.

UP Law ranked first in the preliminary rounds, being the only team with a 4-0 record against Far Eastern University, Arellano University, University of Cebu, and University of San Carlos. The team bested the Ateneo School of Law in the semifinals and won the championship against the University of Sto. Tomas Faculty of Civil Law, both by unanimous decisions. The team is composed of Team Captain Leslie Diane Torres, Abelardo Hernandez, Anton Miguel Sison, Therese Ravina, and Bianca Isabella Ortiz. The team bagged the Best Respondent Memorial Award. The oralists Torres and Hernandez won the 3rd and 4th Best Oralists of the Preliminary Rounds. Hernandez was also awarded the Best Oralist of the Championship Round.
The team was coached by Prof. Rommel Casis, and assisted by Lee Edson Yarcia, Marianne Crielle Vitug, and Gemmo Fernandez.
