UP Law Center Partners with OPAPP and BTA in Learning Sessions on Internal Revenue Code

Learning sessions on the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) were held for the Members of the Parliament of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority last October 28-30 in Davao City and November 4-6 in Quezon City.

The project, which is a two-batch learning session, is a partnership between the University of the Philippines Law Center, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU or also known as OPAPP), and the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).

Resource speaker Atty. Abdel Jamal Disangcopan, lead lawyer of the project for the UP Law Center, said the learning session aims to introduce key legal and taxation principles.

“This activity served as venue for the Members of the Parliament to share their experiences and drawing out their insights in the Bangsamoro context. They learn from us but we also learn from them as we assist them in designing the BARMM’s Revenue Code,” Atty. Disangcopan said at the first batch of the learning sessions.

Ali Balindong, Speaker of the Parliament, praised the sessions as “very helpful”  since taxation is one of the eight priority legislations of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority.
