STUDENT ACTIVITIES

The UP College of Law celebrates diversity in its students. The students come from diverse academic backgrounds—political science, economics, philosophy, chemistry, biology, geodetic engineering and medicine among others. They also have a variety of interests such as event organizing, yoga, belly dancing, arnis, web designing and photography, and share divergent views on society, the economy and religion.

For their extra-curricular activities, they participate in inter-university debates and various international Moot Court competitions during the year. UP Law students have excelled in Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, and Red Cross (Asia-Pacific) International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition. They also send a delegation to the annual Conflicts of Law, an inter-law school sports competition organized by the Association of Law Students of the Philippines.

Moreover, the students are also active in many student organizations in the College such as: the UP Law Student Government (UP LSG), UP Bar Operations Commission (UP BOC), UP Law Electoral Commission, UP Law Journal (PLJ), UP Paralegal Volunteers Organization (UP PVO), UP Law Debate and Moot Union (LDMU), UP National Union of People’s Lawyers, Karapatan ng Komunidad sa Loob ng Selda (KAKOSA), UP OUTLaws, UP Motions, UP Law Charivari, UP Law Christian Fellowship (LCF) among others.

This variety allows lively classroom discussions as well as healthy academic discourse. What binds them together is their pursuit of the law—inculcated in the grand manner of honor, excellence and a passion for justice—for the betterment of the nation and of the Filipino people.

Facilities such as the UP Law Library and the Student Lounge serve as a second home to students. The College also boasts its newly renovated Learning Commons where Café de Lipa is located.
